As noted earlier this week, we lost our brother, Jack O’Connor, suddenly and unexpectedly last Friday.
Whenever Jack came up in conversation – either this week or in the past, most people started with, “He’s such a gentleman.” Jack always had a smile and a good word for you, even as he quietly went about doing the things that needed to get done. He had a mighty hand in building Division 3 and the Hibernian House from scratch, and he managed hall rentals for many years (his lament this last year was, ‘when will we start renting again – I got people calling!’). He was also the longstanding Chair of the Grievance Committee, and while thankfully, there wasn’t a lot of action on that front, when situations did arise, Jack was always thoughtful, circumspect, and determined to do the right thing for all involved.
The only thing I ever saw get in the way of Jack participating in anything Hibernian, was his family, always (and appropriately) his number one priority. Even with that, he was very involved in the community beyond the Hibernians, and he will be missed by so many.
Jack’s obituary and arrangements can be found at the following link on the Wyman-Fisher website:
