The deadline to apply for the New York AOH State Board and AOH Division 3 scholarship is one week away: Friday, February 26. There is one common application and one standard test for both scholarships. The State Board gives out one award of $3,000 while the Division gives out ten scholarships totaling $10,000 to the top applicants from Division 3.
The link to the application is here: application
There is one difference in eligibility:
- For the State Scholarship – All high school seniors who are themselves members or the children or grandchildren of a member belonging to a NYS AOH division are eligible to apply.
- For the Division 3 Scholarship, all high school seniors who are themselves members or the children of a member belonging to Division 3 are eligible to apply.
A High School student who is a member or child of a member is eligible and can compete for both scholarships. A Grandchild of a Division 3 member is eligible for the State Scholarship only.
Applicants are encouraged to include any AOH family participation (but please do not include names to ensure impartiality of judging) and any other information that they feel makes them deserving of this scholarship. The applicant or his or her sponsoring family member need not have obtained their Major Degree, but it is strongly suggested and is factored into the score. Our scholarship committee will judge all applications, so applicants are urged to complete every section as instructed. Applicants must use a 12-point font when completing the application. No handwritten applications will be accepted.

The second part of the scholarship process will involve the completion of a multiple choice exam. The committee will reach out to the applicants after Easter to set up dates and times to administer the exams. All of the questions on this multiple choice test will be taken from study materials that the Scholarship Committee has supplied. The winner is encouraged to attend the NYS Board spring meeting in East Durham, NY on Saturday, May 1st, 2021 with at least one family member to accept the award.
