Our next meeting will be held on Friday, May 19th. Congratulations once again to Ed O’Dea who was presented with the Community Champion award by the Irish Echo and many thanks to all the members who traveled down to the Manhattan Club for the ceremony. Many thanks to Ed O’Dea and Father Raaser for a beautiful Hibernian Mass followed by our Communion Breakfast – thanks to Chef Sean Walsh and all the volunteers who made the celebration of our scholarship recipients such a great day. A few of us attended the NYS Board meeting on May 6th and I’ll fill you in at the meeting. Congratulations to all the Pearl River Irish Music students on their outstanding performances at the Fleadh in Parsippany. Congratulations and many thanks to Sean Walsh and his committee for running a spectacular Walsh Memorial Golf Outing on May 12th. They and all the volunteers are to be commended. Many thanks go out as well to all the members who, after a very long day at the outing, went to the Elks for the benefit for P.O. Patrick McGovern who is battling Stage IV colon cancer. The turnout was outstanding. Looking forward to seeing you at the PR Memorial Day Parade, the RGAA Grand Opening Weekend, the NYS AOH Convention, and, last but certainly not least, the RCAOH Ceol Mor Bagpipe Competition and Festival. Read on in this newsletter for details on all.
Dan Callanan reports the following Good and Welfare News…Please say a prayer for the repose of the soul of Dan Holland, a real class act. Tom Mooney suffered a heart attack and is recovering at Good Samaritan Hospital. Tom is a past president and was instrumental in building the platforms for the Feis at the Marian Shrine. Jim Walsh is doing okay at home, Denis Troy and Tom Markham are recovering well from their knee replacement surgeries, and although Ray Gallagher had a bout of pneumonia during the visit, he is happy to report that his son Brian is recovering well from his open heart surgery. Bill Gaynor is in Northern Manor nursing home and would appreciate visitors.
As always, please remember to say an extra prayer or two for our wounded warriors and their families.
Yours in Friendship, Unity & Christian Charity,
Dermot O’Connor Moore, President
