Brother Hibernians,
I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Our next meeting will be held on Friday, January 22 at 8pm. Welcome aboard to new members Larry McKeever, John Burke, Daniel Smith, Matthew Bender, Thomas Maiorano, John Shields, and Frank Rowley. Congratulations to our 2010 Aide to Grand Marshal Bob Kreider and Battalion Commander Larry Kaine. Thanks to all our elves for doing such a fantastic job at our Christmas parties. Congratulations to all our Pot O’Gold winners and many thanks to all who supported this, our major fund raiser. Billy Young has sent out dues letters. Please get your dues in as soon as possible so we can avoid penalties. The 2010 March for Life will be held on 1/22/10 in Washington, D.C. and information can be obtained at www.aoh.com.
Please say a prayer for the peaceful repose of Mike Dempsey’s aunt Nancy O’Rourke, Dan Davin’s father-in-law Joe Higgins, Tom Leahy’s mother-in-law Mary Catherine McGuire, Neil Acer’s father Gerard and Ray Adametz’s brother John. Congratulations are in order to Billy Girondel whose wife Allison presented him with their first child, Thomas Joseph, who also made first time grandparents out of Tom and Carol Girondel. Please say a few prayers for Bob Hayes recovering from a broken leg, Ed O’Dea’s wife Lorraine recovering from head injuries after a slip on black ice, and Mike Dempsey’s mom Margaret in Carlow. Joe Byrne is scheduled for his hearing in Ireland this month and your good thoughts are greatly appreciated. Joe’s father-in-law John Grady has recovered well enough to resume his House clean-up duties on a part-time basis. Larry Finucane’s daughter Susan is still weak but continues to improve from her brain tumor surgery. Larry thanks everyone for the prayers and believes they were the answer for Susan whose tumor came back benign.
Each of you deserve a pat on the back for spectacular acts of charity toward local needy families during the holy season by providing them dinners with all the fixings as well as Christmas gifts and school supplies and also for your additional generous donations to the USMC Toys for Tots campaign. None of you who supplied the elbow grease requested individual recognition or thanks, so thanks to all. Please keep our troops in your prayers and, if you want to do more, take a look at uso.org.
Yours in Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity,
Dermot O’Connor Moore, President
