Phil Murphy was one of us. While I did not have the pleasure of actually knowing Phil, I have heard many of you tell stories about him down at the pub. Most, if not all of them are quite funny and worth telling again and again.
That is why I am writing this letter to you with great excitement, to let you know that Division 3 will once again be hosting the Philip J. Murphy Golf Outing. This year’s event will be held on Thursday May 17th at the Blue Hill Golf Course in Pearl River, NY and will start at 12:00pm. Immediately following the golf outing we will be hosting a banquet at Emmett’s Castle located at Blue Hill. As we get closer to the date, we will be releasing greater details for the day’s event. I can assure you that we are going to put forth a day filled with fun and opportunity for our golfers and an evening that can be enjoyed by all.
The theme of this year’s golf outing is simple: “Remember Phil”. We encourage each of you to participate, support, attend and play in the 2012 Philip J. Murphy Golf Outing. Most importantly, we want to see you on May 17th and hear you tell your favorite Phil Murphy story. We want to laugh and celebrate his life. That is what this day is all about, and that is why we need your support.
This golf outing is considered to be one of the Divisions major charity fundraisers. As you know, the funds raised through the golf outing are used to support the many charitable activities that AOH Division 3 sponsors or aids such as the Senior Citizens Thanksgiving and Saint Patrick’s Day luncheons; the college Scholarship Fund and the Christmas Party for children with special needs.
The success of this major fundraiser depends upon you.
