October 2010 President’s Message

October 16, 2010 by Administrator

Brother Hibernians,

Welcome aboard to new members Daniel Brennan, Patrick Murphy, Michael Burke, Edward Younghans, and Joe Walsh.

Our next meeting will be held on Friday, October 22. We will have nominations for Division Officers. We will also vote on raising our dues by $10. At the National Convention in July, the AOH voted to raise the national dues and the state is expected to follow suit so we have little choice but to raise ours. A proposal was put on the floor at the last meeting to raise the dues by $10 and we will vote on it at this meeting.

Pete Dunne, the Sheridans and crew did another bang-up job running our family picnic. Many thanks go out to all the volunteers who helped make it such a special day. Please see the article in this letter regarding our Pot O’Gold raffle and support your Division by purchasing one and selling a few.

Dan Callanan reports the following Good and Welfare news… Please say a prayer for the repose of the souls of Pat Crowe who was the epitome of a drum major for the Rockland AOH Pipe Band with his size, strut and smile; Sheila Pegley, the bride of the deceased Des who made very significant contributions to the creation of the Hibernian House of time, skills, and supplies from his employer W.R. Grace; Jimmy Williams who passed away sud- denly; and Pierce Redmond’s step father John Murray. Please also say a prayer for Frank McCoy who has been diagnosed with spots on his lungs; John Keahon’s mom Rita who received a new knee; John Dolan aka “Chief Iron Hip”; Bill Kenney who had a tumor re- moved from his neck; Pete McGovern who had a tumor removed from his noggin and will start radiation therapy shortly; Connie Smith who has completed both chemo and radiation and is now scheduled for surgery; Brain Gal- lagher who experienced heart beat difficul- ties while on vacation at the shore and is now back home in South Carolina; and Sean Collins’ better half Sally who is recovering from a long bout with shingles which for a time ef- fected her eyesight. Congratulations to Neill and Amy Acer on the birth of their daughterAbigail and to Fergal and Liz Hayes on the birth of their daughter Hannah Elise.

Lastly… about those shark and whale sightings off the Rockaways…it was really Gene Flood spouting from his boogie board near 104th Street as per Ed “The Coach” Pascorello.

For the Good & Welfare of our country, please exercise your precious right to vote on Tuesday, November 2 and encourage your family and friends to do so as well. Please don’t forget to say at least one for our troops.

Yours in Friendship, Unity & Christian Charity,

Dermot O’Connor Moore, President
