If you were at last month’s Division meeting, you are aware of the fact that the Hibernian House has been the recipient of a grant to install a hydraulic elevator for access to the second floor of the building. This grant, in the amount of $50,000, is only for the installation of said lift but in so doing the addition to the existing structure will also house improved stair access. In doing this improvement it was also suggested to redo the front of the building adding stone veneer and an accent roof, new lighting and move the dumpster. This improvement was estimated to be about $20,000. Together this adds up to approximately $70,000. The House will have to first lay out the $50,000 for the elevator before the grant reimburses us. Some members are in opposition to these plans while others see this as a win-win situation.
At the upcoming Division meeting Dermot has graciously set aside time to have a discussion and a vote on this subject. Please try to attend as the House Meeting is not until December and if we are going to do these updates before the planned Convention in 2011 time is slipping away.
