No people understand the reality of hunger better than the Irish. Our history during An Gorta Mór—the Great Hunger—is a constant reminder of what happens when the poor are forgotten.
St. Margaret’s is holding a Parish Thanksgiving Food Drive on Saturday, November 22nd, 8:15–10:00 AM at the St. Margaret’s Parish Center.
Those hours can be tough for many families with work, kids’ activities, and other commitments, so our Division is stepping up to help. We’ll be collecting food at the pub all this week and at our Division meeting Friday night.
Please consider dropping off some of the requested items. The parish’s shopping list includes:
- Instant potatoes
- Stuffing or rice
- Cranberry sauce
- Yams
- Fruit cocktail
- Canned vegetables
- Bottled water or juice
- Turkey gravy mix
- Dry soup mix
- Coffee or a box of tea bags
- Candy, nuts, or cookies
There will be a collection box at the pub all week, and we’ll also collect at the Division meeting. We’ll deliver everything to St. Margaret’s on Saturday morning.
Because of the need for refrigeration, we cannot accept turkeys at the pub; if you wish to donate a turkey, please bring it directly to the parish center during the drive hours.
