February 2012 President’s Message

February 12, 2012 by Administrator

Brother Hibernians,

Our next meeting will be held on Friday, February 24 at 8pm. Welcome aboard to new members James Leo, Joseph McMorrow, John McManus, and John Kelly. February 25th marks the 50th anniversary of the signing of Division 3’s AOH Charter. How fitting it is then that the Hibernian House will be hosting a dedication of the new handicapped access and improvements to the House on February 19th. Please see the Hibernian House article for more info. Don’t forget a bus is available free for members intending to march in the NYC parade on March 17 but reservations must be made soon, please see the LAOH article for more details. Let’s have our biggest, best looking contingent out there for the parade in Pearl River as we march behind Grand Marshal Ray Sheridan, Aide John McElligott, and Battalion Commander Billy Ford.

Dan Callanan reports the following Good and Welfare news: Please say a prayer for the peaceful repose of for Bill Ford’s brother Tom , for Don Lyver’s brother Eugene, and maybe another for Donnie, himself who has lost three siblings in less than a year. Please pray for Brian booth’s recovery from a shoulder operation, for Tim Finn’s mom Peggy who broke her shoulder in a fall, and for Jim Finn’s bride Eileen after a bout with diverticulitis. Please continue to keep the following in your prayers: Brendan Malley recovering from his severe injuries, Larry McKeever on a really long road back from partial paralysis at the Summit Park facility in Pomona, and for Ray Gallagher’s daughter Christine who is still undergoing chemo treatments in preparation for major surgery. Congratulations to Gene Flood’s nephew Kyle who has just been named head coach of Rutger’s University Football Team… can a job as a tackling dummy be far behind for Gene?
Say one for the Troops

To quote Bishop Zubik of Pittsburg, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and the Obama administration have said: “To hell with you” to the Catholic faithful of the United States. The recent HHS mandate has said “to hell with your religious beliefs. To hell with your religious liberty. To hell with your freedom of conscience. We’ll give you a year, they are saying and then you will have to knuckle under.” Please read the call for action in this newsletter and do all that is possible to help us rescind this mandate.

Yours in Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity,
Dermot O’Connor Moore, President
