Keough Visiting Faculty Fellow\, Barr is visiting Notre Dame’s Keough-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies this academic year from the University of Aberdeen\, where he is senior lecturer in modern Irish history. Barr is author of Ireland’s Empire: The Roman Catholic Church in the English-Speaking World\, 1829–1914 (Cambridge University Press\, 2020). This year’s Hibernian Lecture is cosponsored by the Keough-Naughton Institute. \nThis virtual event is free and open to all\, but registration is required to participate. Registrants will receive a Zoom link in advance of the event. Register Here \nIn 1978\, the Ancient Order of Hibernians and Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians undertook a campaign to establish an endowment at Notre Dame for illuminating Irish-American history. DESCRIPTION:Dan Peterson and Chuck Parnow are once again coordinating the annual ski trip to Belleayre Mountain on Saturday\, February 1\, 2020. SUMMARY:Showing of Movie "Unquiet Graves" And Discussion June 10th
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, June 10\, 2019\, Alan Brecknell from the Pat Finucane Center will present the documentary Unquiet Graves. \nUnquiet Graves: The story of the Glenanne Gang details how members of the RUC and UDR\, (a British Army regiment) were centrally involved in the murder of over 120 innocent civilians during the recent conflict in Ireland. It will detail how members worked hand in hand with known sectarian murderers in the targeted assassinations of farmers\, shopkeepers\, publicans and other civilians in a campaign aimed at terrorizing the most vulnerable in society. Now known as the Glenanne Gang\, the group of killers rampaged through Counties Tyrone and Armagh and across into the Irish Republic in a campaign that lasted from July 1972 to the end of 1978. \nThe film is narrated by academy award nominated actor Stephen Rea and directed by award winning director\, Seán Murray. \nAdmission is free and open to all.  Doors open at 7pm for a meet and greet with the film presentation at 7:30. Documentary is 1 hour and 15 minutes. \n

DESCRIPTION:The Ancient Order of Hibernians\, Division 3 of Pearl River\, New York annual charity golf outing will be held on Friday May 10\, 2019 at 12:30 P.M.\, registration begins at 10:30 A.M.\, at Blue Hill Golf Course in Pearl River\, New York. For all those who cannot make the golf day\, come join us for a social evening of dinner\, laughter and comradery at The Castle at Blue Hill at 5:00 P.M. that evening. \nDuring this year’s event we will honor the memory of our friend\, fellow Hibernian and beloved member of the Rockland County AOH Pipe Band\, Pete Engel. While Pete has passed away\, we remember his kind soul\, giving heart\, witty humor\, and dedication to the Irish and Irish-American traditions and culture. This year’s AOH Division 3 Memorial Golf Outing will be a time of remembrance and celebration of Pete’s life. \nAs always\, the goal for this golf outing is to raise funds to support the many charitable activities that the AOH\, Div 3 sponsors throughout the year. The gratitude of our college scholarship recipients\, the enjoyment of the senior citizens at our holiday luncheons and the happiness on the faces of the kids at our Christmas party for children with special needs are just a few examples of the priceless results made possible by your generous support. SUMMARY:FEBRUARY 2nd SKI TRIP TO BELLEAYRE MOUNTAIN
DESCRIPTION:Last year’s trip was a blast.  The cost stays the same:  $90 for adults and $80 for junior skiers (19 and under) and includes the bus trip with breakfast\, lunch\, and refreshments on the trip home. Non-skiers can join us for $50.  First paid\, first seated.  The trip is fast approaching and filling up fast\, but there are still a few seats left so sign up at the pub if you are interested in getting in on one of the best ski deals around.
