As mentioned in my email about a week ago, activities cranked up very quickly after we passed Labor Day. We hope those of you involved in the school year are able to ease into getting back on schedule.
Our next division meeting will be at the Hibernian House on Friday, September 20th at 8:00pm. We have a number of key agenda items to cover including: (1) nominations for Hibernian House offices that are up for election (President and Treasurer for regular two-year terms and Vice President for a one-year term), (2) review of some work being done on the House, and (3) some good news around funding sources for such work. As work is already starting on organizing the 2025 Rockland St. Patrick’s Day parade, we will also be taking nominations for Grand Marshal and Aide to the NYC Parade Grand Marshal.
Congratulations to Dennis and team on another well-received Comedy Night – I understand we’re becoming the venue of choice for some well knowns comedians. Also, thanks to those who came out for the Irish Language Mass in the Bronx – a number of our members and the local Irish language club spoke during the Prayer of the Faithful. BTW, if you’re interested in getting involved in Irish language sessions, contact Dermot Moore at dermotomoore@gmail.com.
Also, take special note of the articles on Meals On Wheels (we can use a volunteer or two!) and the Pot Of Gold drawing (as always, need and appreciate your support!).
Finally – a special recognition of “Pan & Peel Pizza” located on North Main St. (same storefront as Gentle Giant), for providing a huge complementary spread at the pub on the 9/11 anniversary – they were good to us (and the food was great!), so be good to them.
Good & Welfare – Please pray for the repose of the soul of our Brother Pete Dunne, and the souls of John “Jack” Murphy, Joe Toal (father of Dennis and Patrick Toal), may they all rest in peace. Also keep the following in your prayers for their quick recovery: Jim and Eileen Finn still recovering from a bad car accident and Francis Cull grappling with various health challenges. As always, we pray that you and your family are healthy and safe.
Yours in Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity,
Chuck Parnow
